The Bands and Instructors
The Award-winning
Crossroads Blues Band
“...The Crossroads Band....make for a great combination; they play blues that forces you to sit up and take notice. This is a great band to see whether you’re in the mood to dance, or just want to sit and listen to some fantastic playing.”
— Chuck Cox, Washington Blues Society
Pre-dance Blues lesson taught by Zachariah Cassady and Monica Magee of Waltz Etcetera
Portage Bay Big Band
Seattle Hardest Working Big Band — Outstanding Big Band Swing for over 25 years. This is the band with all the swing sound you could hope for — brass to gas.
Pre-dance Swing lesson by Lilli Ann Carey of Dance for Joy!
Cambalache
Since they began, Cambalache has challenged and redefined the characteristic sound of Northwest Salsa scene. Never afraid to incorporate new ideas, or to drop others that have been exploited. Cambalache’s eclectic style is an embodiment of the richness and diversity of Latin America. Deeply rooted in the latest music movements developing in Cuba and Puerto Rico, Cambalache’s performances are a blend of great salsa classics and contemporary tunes. At each performance, audiences are seduced by the energetic atmosphere of Rumba and Nueva Salsa.

Captain Leroy and the Zydeco Locals
…play authentic rockin' zydeco music from Southwestern Louisiana.
This high-energy band performs traditional and modern tunes — sung in both French and English — and put their own twist on them to create lively, danceable tunes for two-stepping and soulful waltzing.
Pre-dance Zydeco lesson taught by Lilli Ann Carey and Joanie Brown of Dance for Joy!
Lady "A" & the Baby Blues "Funk" Band
…are one of the "hottest bands to hit the Pacific Northwest." With old school "Funkmanship" Blues Savvy & Motown Fever, L.A.B.B. brings back true entertainment which always gets their audience up and dancing!
Pre-dance Slides and Chicago Steppin' lesson taught by Donald and Aleta Felder.
KGB
This evening is a Waltz Ball Blanc — wear something white, T-shirts to Tuxes — and watch the beautiful display as the dancers take the floor!
No security clearances are required to enjoy Seattle's KGB. With fiddle, mandolin, guitar and piano, KGB creates subversive music, lulling the unwary with traditional New England contradance-type tunes, then jumping off into Balkan modalities, tango riffs and bluesy jigs. Claude slides from growling grooves to impossible high notes on the fiddle. Dave creates percussive energy and dazzling riffs on anything with strings. Julie explores the emotional range of the keyboard from majestic to down and dirty.
